A New Sort of FailBlog?
I know, I know, I’m slower than a speeding snail on this blogging situation, and I owe you all some serious posts. I have not forgotten.
Life is determined to get in the way! First it was the fun things, like Thanksgiving at home, and Art Basel in Miami (pics later) and then the not fun things, like finals, and re-registration for class.
I still love you all
Keep the faith- back ASAP

Happy Turkey Week!

This will make for a very happy turkey day indeed, especially if you celebrate it in a strip club.
I’m on “vacation” for the week of Thanksgiving. It’s not so much the allure of the destination itself as the fact that I get to go spend time with the family and my beloved pupster, Lucas. Anyway, I’ve got plenty of things to be thankful for, so I’m going to need a whole week to appreciate them.
I thought about writing an article on how to cut cost for t-givs, but let’s be serious, turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and cranberries are must-haves. Your family probably has tons of other favorites too. This just isn’t the place to cut corners! I’d be far more worried about your inappropriate Uncle Larry belching the alphabet at the table, or finding the little cousins passed out under the table after they sneak a glass of wine. Just relax, sit back, and enjoy the show!
Have a great Thanksgiving, remember to be happy for all the things you have going on in your life (if you’re logging on to read our site, you’re definitely already better off than most of the rest of the world.) NP girls love to have lighthearted fun, and I know I’m looking forward to the upcoming holiday party season in the city, but all the social scenes and material goods in the world are just the sprinkles on top of the other great stuff- mostly comprised of family and friends.
OK, even I think that came off a little corny, but I’d like to thank our readers, and remind them to wear pants that expand on thanksgiving day.
See you back here next week!

Welcome Back! I’m Jet Lagged From the Trip..

What a long, strange, trip it's been. Time flies when you're having fun!
Is it possible to have jet-lag without actually going anywhere?
This whole daylight savings thing is throwing me even further off of my game than usual. Circa 2:00am on Halloween night, the clocks magically changed back to 1. This was great because I got to party for an extra hour, and my three-AM breakin at 1OAK was actually at 4, thus adding proof to the fact that I am actually a badass. (Kidding.) It also meant that I had a full meal at 6 instead of 5 like my clock said when I came home that night, which means that instead of it being late-night drunk food, it was just breakfast, which is totally legit.
Now it’s 9:00pm several days later, and pitch dark out, and I’m totally thrown off. I feel like I switched time zones, but I’m here in the same apartment I have been for weeks, so that can’t be it. Cancel daylight savings, let’s just switch the clock so the boring things like work and class happen when its dark out, and the parties and nightlife happen when the sun is up. Granted, the ugly people won’t have the darkness to help them out, but at least I’ll have an easier time finding my way into the clubs- and they’re dark on the inside anyway!
Anyhoo, I’ve missed you all, and I wish I could’ve been here all fall to keep the love going for the NP’s, but life got in the way! Post-ponzi, work and school suddenly took a serious front-seat, and although I still had plenty of fun going on, there wasn’t much time to have it AND write about it, or anything else!
Now, the NP girls are going to do their absolute best to bring back the entertainment, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted through www.twitter.com/nouveaupoor, and our page on Facebook (search www.nouveaupoor.com to join!)
NP Goes M.I.A.

If we knew how to surf, we'd totally go surfing!
Hey all,
We still love you, and the world of the NP, but just like many of you, we’re taking a small summer vacay. Be sure to follow us on twitter, or join our Facebook page, and you’ll be the first to know when we’ve got fantastic new stories for you!

Bargains Abound

Practicing for "back to school"
Little is more exciting than finding an incredible bargain. The best ones are usually anomalous, the random thing from a season ago, the late return in just your size that went straight to double markdown. This requires perusing the little hidden sale racks in the corners, not just the promotional sale events. Recent finds include a great pair of black DKNY black cigarette slacks for $18 and a fabulous gold linen trench for $50! It’s always worth checking store’s websites before you head out to see if there is a certificate for an additional percent off. Macy’s is well known for running 50% off, then another 15%, then if you have a certificate, another 20%- so it’s pretty much free by the time you’re done.
Rested and Refreshed

Hi all,
Hopefully you got the rest you needed and had the fun you deserved over the long weekend. The NP girls took some time out to nap, tan, and party, and are back and ready to take on the city again! Stay tuned for this week’s blogs- as always, we hope they’ll keep you entertained while doing the less entertaining things that life requires!

Giant Man Eating Tomato Plants Attack

Yikes! When I planted a few tiny heirloom tomato plants in my flower pots who knew they were going to get as big as me? And if you did why didn’t you speak up?
It’s all going to be okay. I now know I need to support them with stakes and that my four little plants (procured at the NP price of a total of $10) will most likely produce HUNDREDS of tomatoes!
Holy buckets. I’m a farmer.
Summer in the City

A summer weekend in Manhattan makes you feel as though you’ve been given the keys to the city. As mentioned in a previous entry, the multitudes depart for the Hamptons, Connecticut, and other waterfront locales, leaving the gates to the city unguarded, and the cost of admission vastly reduced.
Hotels run weekend specials during the summer. Rooftop bars and sidewalk seating abound- and you might get in!
You can not only drive anywhere during the weekend, but you can actually park! We drove from Brooklyn to Harlem and back to MOMA where we parked across the street from the entrance. Unheard of!
Let the others fight the LI express way to Montauk while you savor the delights of the city with little competition.
