Our Story

We are unequivocally and un-apologetically Nouveau Poor. Our 401(k)s are now 201(k)s, but we’ve still got fine jewelry, cashmere sweaters, good shoes and a full set of beautiful china. And, whether because of a Ponzi scheme, the sub-prime mortgage crisis or the overall global economic downturn, countless thousands of formerly well-to-do Americans are in the same boat. Which, of course, used to be a sleek, expensive yacht, but that’s life!

We created the concept of Nouveau Poor to help people of all ages embrace this new reality with style, grace and humor. Without staff to help us maintain our lifestyle, we all need a handbook for taking proper care of our possessions and ourselves.

We think that all of the girls that visit our Nouveau Poor pages are fit to be called NP Girls, but the girls who created the Nouveau Poor™ brand are:
